Harry Potter film locations and the Jacobite Steam Train

A number of scenes from the Harry Potter films are in Lochaber. You can visit the sites of Hagrid’s Cottage (Glen Coe), Dumbledore’s grave (Loch Eilt), even the foundations of Howarts itself (Loch Sheil, also known as the Black Lake). GeoPark

Lochaber has it’s own GeoPark, one of over 120 geoparks from 33 countries that make up the UNESCO Global Geoparks Network. Museums

Continuing the geological theme you can visit a world class collection of gemstones, minerals and fossils at Treasures of the Earth, walking distance from the Snowgoose Apartments in Corpach.

If you want to learn more about some more recent history the West Highland Museum in Fort William has some interesting exhibits and the National Trust of Scotland visitor centre at the Glenfinnan Monument tells the story of Prince Charles Edward Stuart and the 1745 Jacobite Rising.
